Covid and Moral Distress

ree

Although the worst of it is over, COVID changed the landscape of the nursing profession and how nursing professionals view their jobs, management, and the failings or victories of their particular leadership. In an article, written in October of 2021, the authors posit that the impact of Covid negatively affected the profession, especially in younger and less experienced nurses. While peer reviewed studies give us a big picture overview of the impact, rarely do they capture the moral distress, fatigue, and sadness that caring for dying patients can have on the profession. I will be asking nurses to share their stories, anonymously if they need to, here on this blog, so that we can share the burden of the pandemic together.
